Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I registered for an email address, but never received notification that includes my user ID and password. What can I do?
A. If this has happened to you, contact Online Technical Support. Be sure to include the userid that you tried to register and any pertinent error messages that you might have received.

Q. I've registered for an email address and have received my user ID and password. How do I access my account?
A. Your free email account is web based. This means you can access your account from anywhere in the world using a standard web browser such as Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer. The web address to send, receive and change your account properties is: http://mail.oregonducks.org

Q. I'm trying to access my e-mail account with the username and password that was sent to me, but I keep getting an "Invalid Login" error.
A. You may be using another site's username/password, not the e-mail user ID/password for your Oregon Alumni email. Please check your records to verify whether the username/password you entered was for access for a site, or for your Oregon Alumni e-mail account. Please contact Online Technical Support if you continue to have problems or have additional questions.

Q. Can I access my account using a mail client such as Outlook Express, Netscape or Eudora with my free account?
A. We currently do not support this type of service directly. The common work around for this is to use your free account to forward all mail to your current ISP email address. To set this up: Log in to your mail account at http://mail.oregonducks.org. After sucessfully logging in, click on the OPTIONS menu on the left hand side of your account window.  Click on MAIL PREFERENCES and under MAIL SENDING, click on MAIL FORWARDING.  Click in the provided text box and enter your current ISP email address. Click on Save Changes to save the changes. You should also change your return address in your email client to your free address. This will allow you to change ISP's whenever you want, but keep the same email address. When you change ISP's, be sure to update your email account.

Q. How do I access my account using a mail client such as Outlook Express, Netscape or Eudora with my paid account?

A. If you have a Platinum account, you can access your Oregon Alumni email using industry standard POP3/IMAP clients.  To find the settings that you will need to input into your account settings, please log in to your account at http://mail.oregonducks.org.  From here, you can click on OPTIONS then move into the POP3/IMAP/SMTP  & WAP SETTINGS.  You can print out this page of server names and input them into your POP3 program's account settings.

Q. Can I send attachments through this email account?
A. Yes. However, you must be using a new browser that supports the HTTP 1.1 upload protocol. (Both Netscape and IE 4.0+ support this feature.) If you do not see the attachment button, your browser does not support it. Please note that the acceptable length of an attachment is 20480 kb (20 megabytes) and please be aware that sending an attachment of over 4 megabytes may be difficult for the recipient to download if they are on a dial up connection.

Q. How much space does my email account have?
A. Your basic free email account has 15MB of space. If your account exceeds this space it will begin bouncing back mail sent to it.  You can upgrade to the Bachelor's Package which will enable you to have 1 Gigabyte of space.  The Master's Package contains 2 Gigabytes of space.  You can also purchase extra storage space, a la carte, with options of 1 Gigabyte and 2 Gigabyte upgrade packages available.

Q. How can I get the password for my account if I have lost it?
A. You can visit the Password Retrieval page located at http://mail..oregonducks.org/user/forgot_password_1.asp.  You can also  email the support department from http://mail.oregonducks..org/feedback.asp to have your password reset if you cannot locate your password via the Password Retrieval page.

Q. I have specific questions regarding how to use the Webmail system.  How can I get general questions answered regarding email use?
A. For questions regarding Webmail, our help section is always available and is accessible from inside your account at the top right corner of your account window.  You can also visit the Help Page at http://mail.oregonducks.org/templates/automize/help.asp

Q. When I try to utilize the Write Mail function, the account window says the Write Mail Function has Been Disabled.  How can I get this situation remedied?
A. If this has happened to you, contact Online Technical Support. Be sure to include the full email address of the account in question.
